Scottevest’s Travel Vest is iPad-Ready

Scottevest Travel Vest with iPad PocketAlready there’s a growing trend by companies to promote their products as iPad-compatible. Search Amazon for “iPad” and scroll through the results. Many companies, such as protective case manufacturers, have already designated their products as being made-for-iPad when in reality, someone took some measurements and said, “Eureka! It’ll fit!”

I don’t fault them for it –  I would do the same thing if I had a product that would fill someone’s needs.

The folks at my favorite geekwear company, Scottevest, appear to have done the same. They took inventory of their current product line and found that their Travel Vest has a pocket that’s ready to accept your iPad when it arrives.

The $100 vest has a “Tab Pocket” that will hold an iPad, providing you have one in Large through XXXL. Of course, with it’s 22 pockets, you’ll be able to carry lots of other gear like your SD cards and SD card reader, your MiFi or, if you’re in Austria, your Huawei i-Mo.

With all that said, I’m not sure I would use the iPad pocket in the Travel Vest until I’ve had time to investigate it. I own a Fleece 4.0 Fleece Jacket with the zip-off sleeves (two, actually) and they’re great – especially when I travel on business. However, there are lots of zippers, velcro and magnets throughout the fleece – not exactly the kinds of things I’d want to come into contact with my naked iPad.

I would need to be able to fit the iPad into some sort of protective case and still have it fit in the Travel Vest pocket before I would consider it.

Now through February 16th, Pocket-lint.com and Notebooks.com are running a contest where you can win $175 worth of Scottevest products. Be sure to check it out.
