Over this past weekend I was prompted to update one of my apps – TextExpander for iPhone. I always check the release notes before I update an app (just to see if it’s worth updating) and found that the only changes mentioned were “updates for iPhone OS 3.2.”
While I’m sure there are updates to the new version of iPhone OS for both iPhone and iPad, my understanding is that most of the changes are focused on iPad. I’m glad to see that the developers at SmileOnMyMac are on the ball and preparing for the iPad’s release, but the current version of iPhone OS is 3.1.3.
Should you bother updating?
I did, so you don’t have to.
Luckily, there are no surprises. The application is as stable as ever and functions properly. I guess we’ll have to wait until iPad’s release to see how the developers take advantage of the new SDK. My guess is that they changed it to support resolution independence and to take advantage of the iPad’s Human Interface Guidelines.
