My post about the concept for a refrigerator mount for iPad on Quirky.com allowed my to stumble on the Cloak case for iPad.
The crowdsourced product resembles an office folder which, I believe, is partly the inspiration for its name. Your iPad slides into the case through an opening at the top and is held in place by a friction grip. It’s constructed of non-slip rubber and durable plastic on the hinge mechanisms. More, including gallery, after the jump.
Speaking of the hinge mechanisms, they enable the Cloak to position your iPad on a flat surface in either portrait or landscape orientation.
Portrait: fold the Cloak’s front cover behind the iPad. Use the plastic support brace located on the product’s inside cover to prop up the iPad screen vertically.
Landscape: open Cloak’s front cover and use it to prop up the iPad’s screen from behind. Depending on your viewing preference, the cover can click into different angles by pressing a button on the hinge.
It appears that the Cloak will have a production run of 620 units. At the time of this post, 177 have been pre-sold. I’m close to pushing the Buy button, but I’m going to wait until I see real product shots and hopefully have an opportunityto review one when their available.
