In an article about Apple’s race to close deals with content providers before the release of the iPad, a little tidbit of information revealed itself.
Citing “people familiar with the matter,” the Wall Street Journal indicates that Apple has pre-sold “hundreds of thousands” of iPad units. These same sources believe that Apple could sell more iPads during the first three months of its release than the company sold of the original iPhones back in June, 2007.
The latter fact is more astonishing. Most people understood where a phone fit into their lives, yet no one has really used a device like the iPad to determine whether they will find it truly useful or not.
So many people rushing to purchase the device sight unseen is a demonstration of the confidence that people have developed about Apple products over the years.
