My iPad arrived on Launch Day and I didn’t have anything to protect and carry it. (At least not something that was designed for it, anyway.)
So, I visited my oft-neglected netbook (an Acer Aspire One A150 with an 8.9 inch display, 1.5 GB of RAM and a 9-cell battery) and stripped it naked of it’s neoprene sleeve – a Slipsuit Neoprene Sleeve Case from Mobile Edge.
Full review and photos after the jump.
My iPad fit nicely inside with barely a hint of extra space thanks to the gusset that protects the device from getting scratched by the zipper. I had considered this just a temporary solution until I remembered my Aluratek CDM530AM portable 3G hotspot and my USB 3G dongle. Both fit perfectly in the outside pocket along with my iPad power brick, a USB extension cable and the sync and charge cable with the 30-pin dock connector that comes with every iGadget these days.
The only thing that doesn’t fit is my new Apple Wireless Keyboard which I intend to use for mobile blogging and lengthy documents.
The sleeve is well designed with solid stitching, smart design and nice attention to detail that I would highly recommend for your iPad. That said, it won’t suit my needs over the long term.
I need a case that can support my iPad both in Portrait or Landscape orientation so that I can use it with my keyboard. That case will probably be the Cloak from Quirky. Once inserted in the Cloak, I doubt that it will continue to fit in my current sleeve, nor will it be able to contain my keyboard – but I won’t know until the Cloak actually arrives.
Bottom Line: If you want a solidly constructed case for your Apple iPad with some extra storage for accessories, the Slipsuit Neoprene Sleeve for 10″ Netbooks from Mobile Edge is great choice.
