My post about the concept for a refrigerator mount for iPad on Quirky.com allowed my to stumble on the Cloak case for iPad.
The crowdsourced product resembles an office folder which, I believe, is partly the inspiration for its name. Your iPad slides into the case through an opening at the top and is held in place by a friction grip. It’s constructed of non-slip rubber and durable plastic on the hinge mechanisms. More, including gallery, after the jump.
Magical Tablet reader Dave Emery pointed me toward a product idea on Quirky.com for an iPad Refrigerator Mount for your kitchen. Dave is interested in such a mount for his home, as well as one for his home workshop (he’s a model train aficionado).
Submitted by Quirky member Wendy Skavlem, her general concept is as follows:
A frame with detachable case/skin for the iPad that you can mount on your refrigerator, around the center or “hub” of family activity. The iPad refrigerator mount would have a swivel mechanism to view vertically or horizontally. The case/skin with iPad can be easily removed for use elsewhere and would have a kickstand (similar to a picture frame) that can be propped vertically or horizontally. The package would come with a screen protector.

On the company’s U.S. consumer products site, they tease us with cases, speakers and screen protection for iPad – but no word on when, where or how we can buy them. Hopefully they’ll share the details with us soon.
There’s no denying it – I’m a Waterfield Designs fan boy and they continue to make me happy with their introduction of still more cases for iPad.
The Waterfield Designs Smart Case is a top-loading case featuring an impact-resistant plastic inner shell with light padding, leather accents on the sides, Ultrasuede lining for protection against scratches, a color fabric exterior, and a “powermesh” back pocket for accessories.
The Waterfield Designs Slip Case is a simple sleeve-style case featuring a quick-access top opening, a piece of internal impact-resistant plastic for screen protection, Ultrasuede lining, a pull tab at the bottom to help with device removal, and a washable, water-resistant outer material for protection from moisture. Pricing, availability and gallery after the jump.

The dermaSHOT is a 4mm-thin form-fitting silicone rubber case featuring a smooth, anti-static outer coating protecting everything except the screen, ports and silence switch.
The Feather is a 1mm-thin polymer case with a soft touch matte finish, two surface protectors (I’m assuming that means screen protectors), a cleaning cloth and access to all ports. The company claims that it should work with “most docks” though I’m not sure how they’d know, yet.
The duroSHOT DRX is a hybrid case that wraps the iPad in a soft, flexible NGP (next-generation polymer) material while armoring the sides and back with a hard shell protection.
The NGP Matte is is a thin, soft case made from a semi-rigid material that is said to be both “tear and elongation resistant” while providing access to all ports and controls. Gallery after the jump.
The crew from case maker Uncommon promised to release a custom product for the iPad on January 27th and sure enough, it looks like they may be ready for the iPad launch.
If you don’t know about Uncommon, you should.
The company creates truly custom cases for the iPhone 3G/3GS and soon, for the iPod Touch, BlackBerry Storm II and iPad.
The development team at HardCandy dropped by the TUAW booth at MacWorld this year and brought with them the mockup they’ve been using for creating their iPad cases. These folks put in a lot of time and effort to create a replica of an iPad using a variety of inputs “including stats from Apple’s site, information from over 300 pictures of the keynote (in which they compared the iPad’s dimensions to things like a wristwatch band), and even some not-quite-public plans from an unnamed Chinese manufacturer.” Video after the jump.
