Back in March I told you about a beautifully designed iPad speaker dock called Mantis from Vesta-Life which, at the time, seemed an unlikely product. I mean, iPhones and iPods are for music, not iPads, right? Apparently, wrong.
There’s a huge community of folks clambering for iPad speaker docks and Philips is looking to fill that void by expanding their Fidelio line of speaker docks to support iPads.

Sonos introduced the Sonos Controller for iPad today.
The Sonos Controller for iPad is essentially a ginormous remote control for your Sonos ZonePlayers and features:
- Connections to Pandora, last.fm, Rhapsody, Napster, SIRIUS, iheartradio, iTunes libaries and others
- Easy-to-use music interface: Search for your favorite artists by typing on the virtual keyboard and browse through using the touch interface. Simply drag and drop to add to your queue
- Multi-pane view: See your music menu, what’s playing in every room, and what’s in your queue, complete with album art—all at once
- Landscape and portrait modes
The Sonos Controller for iPad will be available for free in the App Store sometime in mid/late August. Of course, you’ll need a Sonos system to use it.

Philips Electronics is ready for iPad. You can’t actually buy anything yet, but the pictures are pretty.
On the company’s U.S. consumer products site, they tease us with cases, speakers and screen protection for iPad – but no word on when, where or how we can buy them. Hopefully they’ll share the details with us soon.

Those of you who shunned the iPad as Just a Big iPod Touch have just been vindicated, thanks to Vestalife. The company has just unveiled their new Mantis speaker system designed with a dock connector large enough to support the iPad.
The company had to increase its size by 25% to accommodate the new device but the attention to detail and design is still stunning.
